Ever heard of Stitch & Pitch? Neither had I until this year. Essentially, a bunch of knitters, crocheters, and other needlework fanatics do their best to take over a ball park on a given night. And July 17th was Stitch & Pitch Night at our local minor league franchise, the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox. We ladies who frequent the Sew-So Shop (and those spouses who were brave enough to be seen with us) descended en masse at the stadium and had ourselves a grand time watching the Sox beat the sox off of the Sacramento Legends while making a little progress on our works-in-progress.

And such is the substance of my life. *beam*

Don't mess with the pooch, especially when she has a new rawhide chewie to defend.

Now, it's no secret that spouse is somewhat younger than I am. But how much younger I apparently never knew....until this package arrived in the mail yesterday.



Oh. Dear. Heavens. Considering we've been together over 9 years, I almost literally robbed the cradle! Or at least the schoolyard.

Yesterday spouse and I drove to Ft. Bragg for an adventure. Our first adventure was discovering that on Highway 20, 180 miles does not mean a three-hour drive. It's a four-and-a-half hour drive, over twisty curves, through mountains and ranchland, by Clear Lake and across the Russian River. A beautiful drive, nonetheless.

Once we arrived, our first order of business was lunch. Then we found our way to Glass Beach and went for a walk. Here are just a few of the photos I shot.

rendiru was right. Ft. Bragg is gorgeous, and deserves far more time and exploration than our day trip allowed. We didn't have time to go to the Botanical Gardens, or visit the antique stores or craft stores, or historical downtown, or really see anything other than Glass Beach. I want to go back. I want to stay a few days in one of the nifty little bed and breakfast inns and really explore.

This is my grandmother. She was 92 when this picture was taken at my wedding. Her 98th birthday is in 2 weeks. She is very ill now, and will probably be gone from our presence by the end of the year. She will never be gone from our hearts.

(BTW, The user pic is her mother at age 15, circa 1905.)

I've submitted these to my other favorite obsession, but they've never shown up on the voting page., so I'll post them here for your review.

Craft stores and grocery stores are great places to take pictures. Some of the shots I took yesterday are not as successful as others, but overall I'm pleased. Even if the guy in the produce department at Winco said "We don't allow people to take pictures in this store." That was weird.
